Ride Across the Pyrenees !

The cycling trip of a lifetime

... 1000 miles

... 100,000 feet

... 12 days of riding

... August 27 to Sept 11 - 2024

Thanks to Tom and his drone we get a bird's eye view of the terrain.  8 miles or so from our destination of Mirepoix.  Again, always ride the small backroads ... no traffic.

The "topo-map" view of stage 3.

And the corresponding profile of stage 3. Today we stay below 2000 feet.

Even though today is basically 100 miles, the total elevation gain is moderate. I consider this day as a pseudo recovery from the first 2 stages, a little more casual. Obviously it's all about pace, and no one says you can't go hard. "When in doubt attack!"

It's beneficial and important to work together. Draft, draft, draft.  The start of day 3, the morning mist burning off.

This road is tucked into a high valley, a spectacular section of riding near the end of the day. Look at the "topo-map" to locate the straight section near the beginning of the last 1/4 of the ride. You can see how it is nested in a high valley.

Overview of the first 4 stages of the tour, from Biarritz (on the Altantic Coast) to Collioure (on the Mediterranean sea).  The black line represents the border of France and Spain.  Day 2 includes the Col d'Aubisque in the beginning of the day.

These are the 8 stages returning from the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic, all in the high mountains.  Again the black line is the French/Spanish border
