Today we go over the Col d'Izoard, classified out of category. We'll come back over again climbing the other side on stage 8. And we'll find ourselves at the base of the Alps d'Huez in the town of Bourg d'Oisan, our base for the next 4 nights. The ride also ends with a 25 mile descent.

Overview of the first 4 stages of the tour, from Vence (on the Mediterranean Coast) to Bourg d'Oisan (base of the Alps d'Huez in the high mountains).  Day 1 ends in the high mountains, and the next 3 stages are all in the high mountains.
