Tour of France 2012 Stay Chateau

See the Tour of France and spend a week at Chateau Pitray !

Enjoy a fun relaxing week in the wine country - July 17 to 23, 2012.

Welcome to   France  From  Inside . I invite you to come and spend a wonderful week biking in the southwest of France while staying at the Chateau de Pitray during the last week of the 2012 Tour of France, the most important professional bike race of the year. This year we will attend stage 18 near the finish at the city of Brive la Gaillarde. Here's what else you will enjoy:

    • attend the Tour of France as we ride our bikes to the course near the finish of stage 18.
    • a week's stay at the magnificent Chateau de Pitray - come and stay like old friends in our family chateau.
    • bask in the beautiful countryside and medieval towns of the Gironde and Dordogne valley, and
of course enjoy wonderful French food and Bordeaux wines.
    • learn about Bordeaux wines, wine making and wine tasting - starting with the winery at the Chateau de Pitray.
    • and visit historic castles from the medieval ages that dot the landscape of Southwest France.
It doesn't get much better than this! For details take a moment and "cycle" through the website - use the links at the left and top of the page. This bike trip vacation is limited to a group size of 10 guests.

Please note bike rentals can be arranged. Please contact me to discuss the details concerning the bikes (approx. 180 Euros for the week).

I've participated in a number of cycling trips with various companies and cycling at Chateau de Pitray has been my best experience to date. First of all, Allan and his family are amazing hosts. They made us feel immediately comfortable, at home and part of their family. Secondly, Chateau de Pitray is magnificent. The building, the rooms and the grounds are beautiful. My wife, who is a professional artist, was so inspired that she created 11 oil painting in the week we stayed there. That's what Pitray will do to you. Third, the food and wine is exquisite. The meals we enjoyed at the Chateau and local restaurants were wonderful. The winery tours and tasting's were fun, interesting and added to the overall experience.

The town of St. Emilion is not to be missed. Most importantly, the week was about an amazing cycling experience. Allan mapped and led long guided rides every day, being flexible with how our small group was feeling. We toured through the beautiful countryside and medieval towns, often stopping for coffee and baked goods. We had challenging climbs and long stretches along the along the Dordogne river. The weather was ideal, which helped create the perfect cycling and vacation experience. I would highly recommend cycling at Chateau de Pitray during the Wine Harvest ! Sandy and I will return there soon. Thank you Allan.
